And the chamber is subject to thermal cycling and abrasion over years of daily use, plus scrubbing, which is the mechanical-stress pattern associated with increased particle release. If you love your AeroPress, brew slightly cooler, do not leave the slurry sitting, and replace a visibly scratched or hazed chamber.
