Cart Scan

Score the whole basket, not one item

Checking a single product tells you about that product. Cart Scan tells you about your shop. Add items as you go and the app keeps a running score for the basket, ranks every item worst-first, and names the one swap that would improve it most. It is the difference between a fact and a decision.

How a cart session works

  1. Start a cart, then scan as you shop

Tap start and scan items one after another — barcode where the catalogue knows it, camera where it does not. The session persists, so you can put your phone away between aisles.

  2. Watch the score move

Each item updates a running basket score out of 100, with a sparkline of how the cart is trending. You see the effect of a choice while you can still change it.

  3. Get the one swap that matters

The report ranks every item worst-exposure-first and names the single best swap, with the estimated points it would take off the cart. One decision, not a lecture.

Why a basket score beats a product score

Most scanner apps answer one question at a time. That is fine for research and useless at a shelf, where the real question is which of the eight things in your trolley to change.

It scores the packaging, not just the label

Every other scanner reads the ingredient list. Cart Scan also weighs the container — PET versus glass, can liner, film, pouch — which is the larger exposure route for most food.

Worst-first ranking

Items are ordered by exposure, so the thing worth changing is at the top. You do not have to read every result to know where to look.

One swap, with the maths

Rather than flagging everything, the report picks the highest-leverage substitution and shows the estimated point drop. Changing one item usually does most of the work.

A shop you can compare

Cart scores are saved, so this week is measurable against last week. Progress you can see is the only kind that sticks.

Try it on one shop

Start a cart on your next grocery run. Most baskets have one item doing most of the damage, and it is rarely the one people expect.
