Microplastic Ingredient Checker

Paste any cosmetic, skincare, or personal-care ingredient list and we'll flag every plastic polymer, polyethylene, PEG, acrylates copolymer, carbomer, dimethicone, polyurethane, and 20+ more.

Methodology

What this tool checks

We match your ingredient list against 25+ known microplastic polymers, silicones, PEG variants, acrylate / vinyl polymers, and plasticisers commonly used in cosmetics and personal care. The full list:

  • Polyethylene · Microplastic polymer
  • Polypropylene · Microplastic polymer
  • Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) · Microplastic polymer
  • Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) · Microplastic polymer
  • Nylon-12 / Nylon-6 · Microplastic polymer
  • Polyurethane · Microplastic polymer
  • Polystyrene · Microplastic polymer
  • Acrylates Copolymer · Acrylate / vinyl polymer
  • Acrylates Crosspolymer · Acrylate / vinyl polymer
  • Carbomer · Acrylate / vinyl polymer
  • Polyacrylate · Acrylate / vinyl polymer
  • Methacrylate Copolymers · Acrylate / vinyl polymer
  • PVP (Polyvinylpyrrolidone) · Acrylate / vinyl polymer
  • VP/VA Copolymer · Acrylate / vinyl polymer
  • Polyquaternium · Acrylate / vinyl polymer
  • Dimethicone · Silicone
  • Cyclomethicone / Cyclopentasiloxane · Silicone
  • Trimethicone / Phenyl Trimethicone · Silicone
  • Polysilicone-X · Silicone
  • PEG (Polyethylene Glycol) · PEG / glycol
  • PPG (Polypropylene Glycol) · PEG / glycol
  • Parabens · Plasticiser / chemical of concern
  • Phthalates · Plasticiser / chemical of concern
  • BHT / BHA · Plasticiser / chemical of concern
  • Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer · Acrylate / vinyl polymer
  • Polyacrylamide · Acrylate / vinyl polymer
  • VP/Eicosene Copolymer · Acrylate / vinyl polymer
  • Dimethicone Crosspolymer · Silicone
  • Amodimethicone · Silicone
  • Trimethylsiloxysilicate · Silicone
  • Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) · Microplastic polymer
  • Hydrogenated Polyisobutene · Microplastic polymer

The tool is conservative: borderline ingredients (e.g. dimethicone, low-PEG variants) are flagged but classed as medium / low concern. The presence of a flagged ingredient doesn't automatically make a product unsafe, concentration, rinse-off vs leave-on, and packaging all factor into real exposure.
