Paper filters have not been tested for particle release. Wet-strength additives used in filter paper are food-contact approved and are not, as far as anyone has published, a particle source — but "nobody has looked" is the accurate description, not "it is clean".

Limitation: Hot deionised water rather than coffee or tea, and a single cup type. It shows the polyethylene lining degrades at drinking temperature; it does not quantify a dose from a real latte.
