Genuinely contested. The 75% figure is a modelling estimate rather than plant sampling, and industry bodies dispute it by pointing to conditions where PVA does biodegrade. Both sides have an argument. Separately, nobody has looked for PVA residue on washed crockery, which is the question this page raises and cannot answer.

Limitation: Deionised water at controlled temperature. Nanoparticle counts are inherently large numbers; the study is about their existence and quantity, not their fate in the body.
