Delete Your Account
If you would like to delete your MicroPlastics account and all associated data, you can do so directly within the app or by following the steps below.
How to Delete Your Account
Option 1: Delete from the App
- Open the MicroPlastics app
- Go to Settings
- Tap Delete Account
- Confirm the deletion when prompted
Option 2: Request Deletion via Contact Form
- Visit our Contact Page
- Submit a request with the subject "Account Deletion"
- Include the email address associated with your account
- We will process your request within 48 hours
What Data Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:
- Your account information (email address, username, password)
- Your profile information (region, age range, dietary preferences)
- Your scan history and saved results
- Your subscription and payment records from our system
- Any app preferences and settings
What Data May Be Retained
The following data may be retained after account deletion:
- Anonymized scan data — scan contributions that have been stripped of all personal identifiers may be retained for research and database improvement purposes
- Transaction records — payment processors (Apple, Google) maintain their own records of transactions independently
Important Notes
- Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
- If you have an active subscription, please cancel it through your App Store or Google Play settings before deleting your account to avoid future charges
- Deletion is typically completed within 48 hours of the request
